Tinctures and Liquid Extracts are different words for the same product.
All of our tinctures are made with organic herbs grown in accordance with organic standards though many are not certified. Most are made with fresh plant material and made immediatly after harvest. All extracts are made with a blend of herb, ORGANIC GRAIN ALCOHOL and DISTILLED WATER. A few tinctures contain organic, raw, Apple Cider Vinegar and/or Glyerine in addition to the alcohol and distilled water to aid in the extraction of certain constituents.
We make all of our tinctures individually. Each herb is processed individually and goes through three basic steps. The first step is cutting the herb up. This is done in a number of ways depending on if the herb is a root, leaf, herb, flower or berry and whether it is fresh or dried. The second stop is to macerate the herb with a blend of certified organic grain alcohol and distilled water. Each herb has it's own specific ratio of alcohol and water depending on its constituents. Maceration entails leaving the herb to soak in the alcohol/water solution for a minimum of one lunar cycle. Each day, the blend is shaken. This encourages more extraction. The third step is to press and strain the herb. The final solution should taste, smell and feel as close to the fresh herb as possible. For example, a Marshmallow extract should have a very slippery, visus feel to it due to the high mucilagenous content of Marshmallow root. A Rosemary extract should smell like you just walked through the herb garden and brushed up against the grandmother Rosemary plant that you have been growing for years. A Lomatium root extract, well, it should taste terrible!!

Each Liquid Extract is available by itself as well as in your own custom blend. There is no charge for custom blends if you are ordering in 16 oz size or greater.

These four formulas are intended to aid the body in cleansing itself of unwanted toxins that build up due to the food we eat, the air we breathe, etc. They are best used when working with a qualified health practitioner. The formulas that open the elimination channels of the body ore meant to be taken first, the Lower GI Formula and the June-Ursi Formula. After these elimination channels are functioning properly, the Liver Formula can be started. The Liver Formula helps to cleanse and tonify the liver.The Blood Formula can be started after the Liver Formula has begun. The liver must be in good condition so that it can handle cleansing the blood stream. These formulas are not intended to replace quality health care and should be used with proper diet including lots of fruits and vegetables, and exercise.
